Place bids on 10 or more different lots to bypass the 8 PM cutoff and bid freely on any item until the auction ends. For full details, see Rule #3 in the below terms and conditions.

Auction Terms and Conditions

  • 1. All sales are final. Please check our website or call for additional details. No descriptions will be provided on the final day.
  • 2. Bidding deadline: A bid must be placed on any specific lot prior to 8 PM EST on the final day of the auction to continue bidding on that lot after that time, unless you qualify for VIP bidding. In other words, you must place bids on each and every lot you wish to bid on by 8 PM EST. The entire auction closes on a lot-by-lot basis starting at 12:30 AM. If the auction extends to 2:45 AM EST, the auctioneer reserves the right to end the auction at any time with ten minutes’ notice.
  • 3. VIP bidding: If you place bids on 10 or more different lots, you are exempt from the 8 PM cutoff rule and may bid on any lot after that time. Please feel free to contact us with questions.
  • 4. Buyer's premium: A 20% buyer’s premium will be added to the final selling price (see rule 16).
  • 5. Invoices and payment: Winning bidders will receive invoices by email only. Payment is due no later than 14 days after the auction closes.
  • 6. Bidding increments: Bids must increase by 10%. For example, to top a $200 bid, one must bid $220. Tie bids and bids below the required increment go only to a prior max bid.
  • 7. Sales tax: Sales tax will be charged in the following states at these rates: Florida 6%, Illinois 6.25%, New Jersey 6.625%, New York 8.625%, Ohio 5.75%, Pennsylvania 6%, Virginia 4.3%, and Wisconsin 5%. A resale certificate from your state may be provided for exemption.
  • 8. Bidder approval: We reserve the right to reject bids from any bidder.
  • 9. Legal agreement: Placing a bid constitutes a legally binding contract to purchase the item if you are the winning bidder. Bidders are responsible for reading item descriptions and viewing images. All legal fees and expenses incurred in collection are the responsibility of the bidder. Any disputes will be resolved in New York State court only.
  • 10. Payment methods: Payment must be made by check or money order. Personal checks from new customers or for unusually high amounts will be held for 10 business days. We do not accept credit cards or PayPal. Starter checks and credit card convenience checks are not accepted.
  • 11. Non-payment consequences: Names of non-paying bidders will be published in future auctions and correspondence.
  • 12. Lot updates: Some lots may have updated descriptions. Please consult our auction website at auctions.cleansweepauctions.com for the most current information.
  • 13. Authentication policy: Clean Sweep cannot be held responsible for changes in authenticator opinions 60 days or more after the auction closes. We also do not accept responsibility for opinions from authenticators other than JSA. If you prefer a second opinion, please arrange that before bidding. All JSA letters are auction-style LOAs unless otherwise stated.
  • 14. Framed items: Framed items are shipped as-is. Clean Sweep is not responsible for any damage to the frame during shipping.
  • 15. Late bidding premiums: Bids placed after 2:00 AM EST are subject to an additional 5% buyer’s premium; bids after 2:30 AM EST are subject to a 10% premium. Maximum bids placed before 2:00 AM are exempt.
  • 16. Reserves: Some lots are subject to a reserve. These will be clearly noted on our website, and the auctioneer may bid up to one increment below the reserve.
  • 17. Large autograph lots: Lots containing 10 or more autographed items may include secretarial or non-authentic signatures.
  • 18. Autograph grading: When a numerical grade is provided for an autographed item, it reflects only the darkness/visibility of the autograph, not the condition of the item itself.
  • 19. Lot valuation disclaimer: Clean Sweep is not responsible for replacement value of any item not specifically mentioned in the description. For example, in a 100-item lot that sells for $1,000, any unlisted item is valued at $10.
  • 20. SMR values: Stated SMR (Sports Market Report) values are estimates only and not guaranteed. Please review any lot itemization carefully. A list will be provided upon request if not available on our website.
