Listing Details

The ultimate post-war baseball card, this is among the most famous and revered cards ever issued. The offered card is simply outstanding for its grade. The color here is exceptional, it has deep, rich color that makes card more visually appealing than most that trade. The corners are VG or better, the card has two creases on the front, a corner crease at the lower right and a moderate crease by the left edge that does not crack the paper. No creasing is obvious on the back, even under magnification. The back is reasonably well centered and nice, there is a stray mark in ink on the card number, that is the reason for the qualifier. This has a slight diamond cut, and is centered a good way to the right border. While certainly not a high grade card, this presents awfully well for its grade, again with note to a terrific rich color image of a young Mickey Mantle. Prices have been moving all over the place on this card, two PSA 2 qualifier cards brought over $20,000 in 2016, two 1s have traded over $10,000 in the past few months, we feel this card has better eye appeal than either of those cards (ugly 1s have brought over $9,000 this year). We are going to open this with a low minimum bid and no reserve, this is a potentially golden opportunity for a collector to fill the most important hole in their 1952 Topps set with a colorful, attractive card, AND without getting a second mortage.
