Listing Details

Great piece, this is an original artwork from one of the most colorful and artistic baseball card sets of its era. A better card in the set, the artwork on Luke Appling is among the best in the set. Original artworks from the Diamond Star set are extremely rare and desirable, an Earl Averill sold for $6,000 this year, a Schoolboy Rowe brought over $6,500 in 2010, commons have sold for as low as $3,450 way back in 2004. This lovely piece measures 4 11/16 x 5 9/16, this is original paint on board. LUKE APPLING is written neatly at the bottom left corner in pencil, the back is unmarked. The artwork has some general wear from aging but presents quite well. If you are into collecting high quality original artwork for baseball cards, it really does not get much better than the offered item! This is a museum worthy item.
