Lot #362 1955 Johnston Cookies Complete Set on Uncut Strips!

An extremely desirable item, this was collected in the early 1980s and has been resting peacefully on a shelf since then. Slabbing has made these almost rare, when was the last time one of these came around? A quality team with three HOFers and many star players, the early Aaron card is of course the key here. To our eyes, the Aaron card appears to be quite sharp and clean, we do not see any creases, wrinkles or other imperfections. The strips overall appear to be quite crisp and clean, with very mild wear in places and on some end cards. A novel set that has no contemporary style for any other team, the Milwaukee Braves stuff from this era is beloved by 1950s collectors. Just as a note, the Aaron card alone can trade for $2,370 in a PSA 6 and $5,180 in a PSA 9; the Mathews card last sold in just a SGC 2 for $310, the last sale on a Spahn (PSA 9) was for $1,886. This is an exciting item with enormous potential for slabbing, but hopefully this will stay with a collector who appreciates this utterly charming 1950s regionally issued set.
